FW wins an epic battle 10-8 in 13 inning against a great Lamar team!! A game people will be talking about for years! Play by play of this awesome game will be posted tomorrow! Wow - going to state. We will either play at 4 or 7 Wed in Round Rock at Dell Diamond! UIL baseball link below. Go Mustangs at State!!

FW loses game 2 8-1.  Not many highlights but Dan Lifau tried to spark things, with a single that turned into a 3 base error filled sprint around the bases! Preston and Kevin pitched well in the last 2 innings.

FW wins game 1 4-3!! Stefan pitches a CG 4 hit 10 strikeout gem! Mustangs scratch out 4 runs on 9 hits. Timely hits by Myers, Fitzparick, Anastas and McClaren were enough to win the game. Game 2 is big!! Be there tonite and be loud!!

FW sweeps Austin McCallum! FW won the first game 10-4 behind three home runs from  Kevin Thornton, Alex Anastas and Cody Bergeson. The FW bats hammered out 13 hits. Stefan settled in after a rough start to get the win with 9 strikouts. FW then won game 2,  9-4,  in a very close game until the 7th inning when Friendswood exploded for 5 runs, led by the awesome grand slam by Alex Anastas!! Andrew Beasley pitched a complete game with 5 K's to pick up the win!! This team is only the 2nd team in FW history to make it to the Regional Finals!!

FW sweeps Bay City in a wild one. Andrew started the game hot. At one point he was relieved by Kyle and Jordan, but he then renentered the game and pitched thru the 6th. Austin drove in Stefan with the winning rbi double off the wall! Stefan then came in and closed it out! Great job and we go on to face the Austin McCallum team next! Stay tuned for dates and locations!! Way to go Mustangs!

WOW -  FW unleashed a 13 hit barrage on Bay City Thursday nite in Manvel, winning the game by run rule 11-0!! Stefan Myers pitched a complete game one hit shutout!! FW had many hot hitters, led by; Austin Fitzpatrick 2-3 with 4 RBIs, Forest Allday 2-3 with a homer and 2 RBIs and Michael Ruiz 2-3, 2 runs and an RBI. Great team win!! FW will try to close it out Friday nite!!

FW vs Bay City it is! Games will in Manvel Thursday and Friday at 7:30. Saturday if required will also be in Manvel, timing TBD.

FW won in convincing manner 11-2 over Galena Park. Stefan Myers pitched 6 innings and allowed only 2 hits! Kyle Burris closed it in the 7th for the 2nd straight nite! Kevin Thornton had a huge nite at the plate - 2-3 , 2 homeruns and 4 RBI's! Matt Mclaren also hit a 2 run homer. Micheal Ruiz had a key bases loaded 2 out single driving in 2 key runs! Great win by the Stangs and we advance to play the winner of Bay City vs Barbers Hill. They play at Manvel tommorrow at 2:00!

4/25/08 - FW varsity wins the District title. First unshared District title since 2002!! Well done team. Good luck in the playoffs!

    History Lesson - the 2002 team went 14-0 in District and won the unshared District title!!

4/23/08 - JV wins again, 5-1 vs Manvel. Starting pitcher Griffen Davis settled down after the first inning to strike out 12 batters in total for a very  good  6 inning performance.  An early lead by Friendswood with 3 runs in the 1st kept the JV in the lead for good. Reliever Michael Goodwin closed out the 7th and another win over Manvel is in the books.

 4/18/08 - Sophs add a game for Saturday in FW vs Brazosport JV at 11:00.

4/16/08 - Mustangs Varsity wins a big won 10-0 vs Brazosport to hold onto sole first place in the district. Stefan Myers pitched a 5 inning CG. Forest Allday hit a Solo Home run.

4/16/08 - Mustangs JV visited the home field of the Brazoport Exporters to add another win to the ledger!  Clutch hitting by all. Key key doubles  by  Brandon Hollier, Beau Barnes and Turner Goodwin  led the Mustangs hit parade. Starting pitcher Michael Speck controlled the game early and  got relief help from Andrew Bossert and Kyle Singleton to close out the district win. Final score was Mustangs 7  Brazosport 2.

4/12/08 - Big week for FW baseball. The Varsity continues to stay hot. We beat Dickinson and Lamarque to take advantage of other teams losses to grab first place alone in the district. Stefan Myers pitched a complete game vs Dickinson. FW used 4 pitchers against LaMarque and won going away 25-1, lead by Alex Anastas Homerun.

Sophs had a big week. Beat two very tough teams to continue their winning streak. Against Atascocita, Connor Kelley pitched 5 strong innings to pick up the win. Peter Maetzold hurled 2 strong relief innings to close them out. Matt Kennemer drove in the winning run in the first inning! Agains Brazoswood we had Tyler Sullivan and Mike Speck join the team and they hurled 7 strong innings to lead FW to a 5-1 victory of a team that beat us 8-5 last time. Well done!

4/5/08 - Friendswood sweeps Santa Fe. The Varsity came out and dominated Saturday nite, 8-1. The Friendswood offense made things easy for Andrew Beasley. The Mustangs scored six runs in the second inning for an 8-0 lead. Beasley did the rest. He tossed a three-hitter, striking out eight of the last 12 batters, in an 8-1 victory over the Santa Fe Indians on Saturday. Stefan Myers lead the offense with a 2 run homer! The victory, coupled with Dickinson’s 9-1 victory over Angleton on Saturday, pulls Friendswood into a three-team tie for first. Dickinson, Santa Fe and Friendswood are each 6-2 in district. Angleton and Texas City are both a game back at 5-3.

JV wins behind strong pitching from Michael Goodwin and a walk off homer by Andrew Weber!

Sophs win 3-1. Ben Compton was dominating on the mound, hurling a 7 inning no hitter! Jordan Bolton drove on the winning run.

 4/4/08 - All FHS baseball games are rained out for today Friday the 4th.  The Varsity will play @ Santa Fe tomorrow (Sat the 5th) at 7:00 pm.  The Soph will play tomorrow at home @ 1:00 pm and the JV will play at home @ 3:00pm.

4/2/08 - The Varsity defeated Texas City tonight 6-4.  Stefan Myers pitched a CG, 8K, 1BB, 6 hits. The Mustangs broke a 4-4 tie in the fifth inning off a Sting error and held on for the crucial district victory. Stefan Myers got the win for Friendswood (12-8 overall, 5-2 district), which moved into a tie for second with Dickinson and Angleton in District 23-4A.

4/2/08 - The Mustangs JV came with bats a blazing to take a 6 to 1 win from the Texas City Stingarees at home. Solo home runs  by Kyle Singleton and Tyler Sullivan led off the scoring in the Mustang 2nd inning. Later RBI's by Andrew Weber, Ethan Erenwert, and Jordon Gibbs capitalized on the 10 total hits by the Stangs offense. Junior  Preston Schulze pitched  6 strong innings to get the win with reliever  Griffin Davis closing out the 7th

4/1/08 - Sophs add a game 4/8 vs Atascocita at FW 6:00.

3/29/08 - Varsity - Wins 8-2 vs Manvel. Beasley pitched CG, 10K,3W,2H, 1ER.

3/29/08 - JV - A low scoring pitchers dual made for a close game with Manvel. Michael Goodwin went 6 strong innings for the Stangs to keep it close.  Good defense by the like of Brandon Hollier  and clutch hits  twice by Kyle Singleton ( 3 RBI's)  driving in the game winning 2 runs gave the Mustang JV a  come from behind victory in the botton of the 7th ...final Score ...Manvel 2 Mustangs 3

3/28/08 - JV home game against Manvel that was scheduled for today, Friday the 28th has been moved back to a 5:00 start time. The game scheduled for Monday the 7th vs Dickinson will be played at home at 6:00 (this was due to the switching of Varsity games earlier in the season).  The game scheduled for Friday the 11th with LaMarque has been canceled because they no longer have a JV team.

Sophs game vs Sweeny 3/29 moved to Monday 3/31 in FW at 6:00. 4/2 game vs Episcopal has been cancelled.

 3/20/08 - The Mustangs JV rolled to another victory with an easy win over the Exporters. Starter Michael Speck and reliever Tyler Sullivan combined to spread 5 hits over 5 innings for fine  mound performance by the two freshmen hurlers. The Stangs took care of business at the plate by delivering  10 hits of their own.  The entire team  contributed to the win for a good spring break victory.   Final score - Mustangs 13 ...Exporters 1. 

3/20/08 - Sophomores lose a game they had in their favor most of the game. Thru 3 innings the score as 4-1 and things looked good. The 4th inning was our undoing as we allowed 7 runs with 3 errors and the Bucs held on to win 8-5 in 5 innings. Connor Kelley pitched a strong 3 2/3 innings with 0 earned runs.
 

3/14/08 - JV loses 6-4 to Dickinson. Friendswood's Griffin Davis got the start and completed 4 shut out innings to stake the JV Stangs to a 2 -0 lead. But the Dickinson Gators chipped away at the lead  and with a big rally in the 7th took the lead 6-2. The  Mustangs did not give up but fell short losing 6-4 for their first district loss.

3/14/08 - Varsity game vs La Marque has been moved from Tuesday 3/18 to Monday 3/17 in Friendswood at 7:00.

3/14/08 - JV wins 3-1 in 8 innings vs Santa Fe! Kyle Singleton got the JV Mustangs started  pitching very well  thru the 3rd inning.  Tyler Sullivan's solo home run led off the scoring for Friendswood.  Ball game was all tied 1 - 1 going into the 8th, with a key base hit by Connor Newman to start a 2 out rally. The Stangs own Kyle Singleton comes to the plate to send a deep HR shot to left giving  Friendswood the lead going into the bottom of the 8th,  3-1. Preston Schulze completed 5 innings of shutout relief to get the Win. What a great game by all defensively to get the first district win.
 

3/13/08 -  There has been a change in schedule for the Varsity and JV games for  Friday the 14th.  The JV will play Dickinson at Friendswood @ 4:00 and the Varsity will also play Dickinson at Friendswood starting @ 7:00pm.  The change was made due to the field at Dickinson still being too wet.

3/13/08 - All games vs Santa Fe rescheduled for today, same locations and times.

3/8/08 - Friendswood loses 5-4 to area ranked Alvin in championship game. The weather was cold and windy, but the players played like it was hot. Great ballgame by both teams. Friendswood drew first blood with an unearned run set up by Cody Bergesons walk. Jesse Flores drove in two runs in the second, plating Ruiz and Fitzpatrick. Ruiz drove in one run in the third scoring Anastas. That was the end of the FW scoring. Ruiz pitched 3 1/3 strong innings, giving way to Burris in the fourth with the bases loaded. Alvin scored 2 runs in the 4th and that was enough. Burris shut them down the rest of the game. Well played game.

3/8/08 - JV wins two games in abbreviated Pearland tourney. JV beat Pasadena Memorial in the first game 11-1, Tyler Sullivan had a homerun and Griffin Davis picks up the win.  JV beat Pearland 8-4. Kyle Singleton had a homerun and Preston Schulze picked up the win. JV runs its record to 10-1!

 

3/7/08 - The Varsity played in the nastiest and coldest day many have ever experienced for baseball.  They defeated Pearland 2-1 with Kevin Thornton giving up 2 hits and 1 run with Kyle Burris getting the save.  Game two was a wild one.  Stefan Myers started and between a pile of hits and errors left the game down 11-1.  Alex Anastas came in an finished the game, Friendswood eventually came back and lost a close one 13-12.  We had a runner on 2nd & 3rd at the end of the game.  Sean Jacobson hit a 2 run bomb to get the comeback started. We may be playing in the championship game tomorrow evening. 

3/7/08 - JV and Sophomore tournaments cancelled.

3/6/08 - The Varsity defeated Ft Bend Austin today 9-8.  Beasley got the win.  HR- Anastas and Fitzpatrick.  Scheduled to play Pearland at Pearland Friday at 10:00.

3/3/08 - Due to TAKS the varsity and JV games have been moved to tonite - Varsity at home 7:00, JV away at 7:00. Sophs play Wed at 7:00.

3/2/08 - Varsity loses a tough one 4-3 to Hebron in the CC Classic Championship game. Nice Showing of 3-2 vs tough teams.

3/1/08 - The varsity won their second game of a doubleheader yesterday 7-6 versus Laporte. Kyle Burris picked up the win and Micheal Ruiz picked up the save! FW beat Clear Lake today 5-3 and made it to the championship game with a 3-1 record. They will play Lewisville Hebron 5:00 at Clear Brook for the title!

JV Wins the Pearland tourney. The won their first game today 14-5 vs Clear Lake to run their record to  3-0 in the tourney and into the championship game. They beat Dobie 5-4 to win the title!! Well done!

Sophs lose a tough one to Fort Bend Travis 3-2.

2/29/08 - JV crushes Manvel 13-2! JV 2-0 in the tournament!! Varsity cruises by Morton Ranch 11-1. Stefan Myers gets the win. Home runs by Bergeson and Jacobson!! 4 Rbi's for Cody and 3 Rbi's for Sean!! Sophs beat Alvin 3-2 in  a great win. Ben Compton gets the win, TJ Myers the save! Homerun by Ben!!

2/28/08 - Varsity loses a tough game to Seven Lakes 1-0. Andrew Beasley pitched well, scattering 5 hits. The Mustang bats could only muster 2 hits. JV wins going away 17-1 vs Galveston Ball. Sophs lose to Santa Fe, 7-2. 7 Mustang errors was too much to overcome.

2/26/08   - Friendswood sweeps Terry. Varsity wins 2-1, Jv wins 5-4 and Sophs win 14-2! Well done Big Wood!!

2/25/08 - Varsity lost 4-1 to a very strong Alvin team and lost 13-1 to Pearland. Rough weekend. Junior Varsity had the best first tournament showing of our teams, winning 2 out of 3 versus against some very tough 5A and 4A teams. We beat Clear Lake and Texas City and lost a close one to the Woodlands. Varsity plays at Rosenberg Terry Tuesday 2/26 and the JV plays at home Tuesday vs Terry at 7:00.

2/24/08 - The Sophomores started strong with an 18-0 win over Channelview. They were quickly brought back to earth with a 6-1 loss to Alvin and a 4-2 loss to Santa Fe to finish 4th out of 8 teams in the Galveston Ball tournament. The Sophs play Tuesday at home vs Rosenberg Terry and then start the Brazoswood Tourney Thursday.
